Platform updates to eConsult and eVisit
OTN is continuing to refine and enrich your experience in the OTN hub . . . so you can find what you need and when you need it, to practice telemedicine.
Since the recent launch of several videoconferencing features, we have conducted usability research with many of you – to determine what you value most in your practice and which features support your use of telemedicine tools and services within the OTNhub.
Thank you for this feedback, it helps us to keep enhancing our videoconference platform to better suit your telemedicine practice needs. Most of the changes we have made are intuitive and you may not even notice them; your experience will just feel a little easier. Some new improvements are more obvious, such as:
1. A new OTNhub Home Page
The first page you land on after signing in to OTNhub.ca, now offers you two easy paths to sourcing the products, services, tools, help, and learning resources you are looking for:
- Patient Care: clinical telemedicine tools, programs and products
- Professional Development: everything you need to learn and advance your practice
You’ll notice it has the same look and feel as the OTNhub.ca website that was re-designed in April, delivering you a more consistent experience to access what you are looking for. Your Program/Service Options are accessed through the blue toolbar at the bottom of the page.
2. eVisit Videoconferencing Updates
Video Interface
- Updated in-call interface, with the view of other party taking up more of the screen and the control bars being reduced in prominence so that you can more easily focus on the event.
- New “print friendly” functionality - options to print daily event summaries as well as single event details.
- Content sharing functionality remains the same, but updates to the controls make it clearer.
OTNinvite Guest Experience:
- Guests will have a better experience with clearer emails and a new, simple test for them to see if they will be able to successfully use their device prior to a video meeting.
3. eConsult Updates
- Email Notifications: for your protection, you are now required to enable at least one email notification.
- Validation of data entry in the Create Case form has been improved, such as the OHIP card, to make it easier to send an eConsult.
- The total number of cases that need your attention now appears on the side panel.

Some terminology changes for you to take note of:
- QUESTION has been renamed to TITLE in the Create Case form
- The REASSIGN action has now been renamed “CHANGE SPECIALIST”
